The IRS has extended the public hearing for its proposed rule on the Section 45Z clean fuel production tax credit. The hearing, originally set for May 28, will now run from May 27 through May 29, 2026.

Why it matters: This is mostly an administrative update. It does not change the proposed rule itself, which would create a new tax credit for producers of qualifying clean fuels. The extension and format change simply give interested parties more time to listen and adjust to a phone-only setup.

Who it affects

  • Clean fuel producers and energy companies that may apply for the Section 45Z tax credit
