Maritime Administration simplifies annual citizenship filings for large fishing vessels

The Maritime Administration has finalized a rule that makes it easier for owners of U.S.-flag fishing vessels over 100 feet to prove their vessels are owned by Americans. The agency is adding an optional certification process for annual renewals when the ownership details have not changed since the previous year’s filing.

It also aligns the American Fisheries Act rules with modern standards used in other Maritime Administration programs.
