The Securities and Exchange Commission is updating outdated cross-references in two parts of its trading rules. In October 2024, the SEC renumbered several paragraphs in Rule 610 of Regulation NMS. This new action simply updates the internal citations to match that renumbering. It changes one reference from paragraph (d)(1) to paragraph (e)(1), and updates the delegation authority citation from Rule 610(e) to Rule 610(f).

Why it matters: This is a housekeeping update. The practical effect is minimal: it keeps the SEC’s rulebook internally consistent. Market participants will see no change in how they trade, report, or request exemptions. The only real impact is that anyone citing the rule will now use the correct paragraph numbers.
